This website uses cookies and similar technologies to help the website operate securely, remember your cookie choices and understand how visitors use the website.
A cookie is a small text file which is placed on your computer, phone or other electronic device when you access a website.
How I use cookies
I use cookies on this website to:
-
help the website operate securely and correctly;
-
protect the website against fraudulent, malicious or automated activity;
-
maintain the stability and performance of the website;
-
remember the choices you make about cookies;
-
understand how many people visit the website and how they use it;
-
understand which pages are being viewed and how visitors move around the website; and
-
carry out statistical analysis to help me improve the website, its content and the experience of visitors.
Some information collected through cookies and similar technologies may constitute personal data. This can include information such as your IP address or approximate location, browser type, device information and information about how you use the website.
For more information about how I use personal data, please see my Privacy Policy.
Types of cookies used on this website
I currently use the following types of cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the secure and effective operation of the website.
They are used for purposes including website security, fraud prevention, protecting the website from malicious or automated traffic, maintaining sessions and recording your cookie choices.
Because these cookies are necessary for the website to operate securely and provide the service you request, they may be set without your consent.
The ICO recognises exceptions for technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a requested service and for purposes such as security and fraud prevention.
Analytical or performance cookies
These cookies help me understand how visitors use the website.
I use Google Analytics 4 to collect statistical information such as the number of visitors to the website, the pages viewed, how visitors move around the website and how they arrived at it.
This information helps me understand how the website is performing and where its content or usability could be improved.
On this website, Google Analytics cookies are only set after you have given consent through the cookie banner.
Google Analytics 4 uses first-party cookies to distinguish users and maintain session information.
I do not currently use advertising or targeting cookies to provide personalised advertising based on your browsing activity.
More detail about our cookies

Wix identifies the Wix cookies above as cookies used for security, fraud detection, API protection, stability and system operation.
Cloudflare states that its __cf_bm cookie is used by its bot-management systems and expires after 30 minutes of continuous inactivity.
Google states that the default expiration period for _ga and _ga_<container-id> is two years, although browser restrictions can shorten the period for which they remain stored.
*The actual period for which a cookie remains on your device may therefore be shorter depending on your browser settings and browser-imposed limits.
First-party and third-party cookies
A first-party cookie is a cookie set on the domain you are visiting.
A third-party cookie is set by a different domain or service.
This website uses services supplied by third parties, including Wix, Cloudflare and Google Analytics. Some cookies used by these services are nevertheless set as first-party cookies on this website's domain.
For example, the Google Analytics cookies _ga and _ga_FW0BBHJ1V5 are set on this website's domain even though the analytics service is provided by Google.
Google Analytics
I use Google Analytics 4 to help me understand how visitors interact with this website.
Depending on your consent choices, Google Analytics may collect information such as:
-
pages viewed;
-
interactions with pages;
-
approximate geographic location;
-
device and browser information;
-
how you arrived at the website; and
-
information about your visit and use of the website.
-
I use this information for statistical and analytical purposes so that I can understand website performance and improve the website and its content.
Google Analytics uses the cookies _ga and _ga_FW0BBHJ1V5 on this website. Google describes _ga as being used to distinguish users and _ga_<container-id> as being used to persist session state.
Your consent and cookie choices
When you first visit this website, you are given choices about the use of non-essential cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies may be set automatically because they are required for the secure and effective operation of the website.
Google Analytics cookies are only set on this website after you have given the relevant consent through the cookie banner.
You can change your cookie preferences at any time by reopening the cookie settings on this website.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Depending on the browser you use, you can normally choose to:
-
delete existing cookies;
-
block all cookies;
-
block certain types of cookies;
-
prevent third-party cookies; or
-
clear cookies when you close your browser.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies through your browser may affect the way the website functions.
The ICO provides further information about browser controls and managing cookies.
Google Analytics opt-out
If you do not wish Google Analytics to collect information about your visits across websites that use Google Analytics, Google provides a Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
You can also decline analytics cookies on this website through the cookie banner or change your cookie preferences later.
Changes to the cookies used
The services and technologies used on this website may change from time to time.
If I introduce a new service, integration or technology that sets additional cookies or uses information stored on your device, I will review this Cookie Policy and update it where necessary.
I periodically review the cookies used on the website to ensure that this policy continues to reflect the cookies and technologies actually in use.
Further information
For more information about cookies and similar technologies, including your rights and how to manage cookies, you can visit the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance on cookies and storage and access technologies.
The ICO's current guidance requires organisations to provide clear and comprehensive information about the technologies they use and to ensure that appropriate controls are provided where required. The ICO published updated guidance on storage and access technologies in April 2026 following changes to UK law.
